Qualifications:
Mr. Raman is a commerce graduate from D.G.Vaishnav College of Chennai.
Fellow Member of ICWAI and Associate Member of ICAI,
Fellow Member of ICMA of Srilanka and very recently in May 2011 was conferred the membership of CPA Australia.
Professional trajectory
Articled in the consultancy division of PriceWaterhouse & Co , New Delhi, he was a rank holder in both the intermediate and the final exams of ICAI.
Member of the Technical Advisory Board of ICMA of Srilanka and also co-opted in the Technical advisory panel of Vivekananda College in commerce stream.
Positions
Mr Raman was the Chairman of SIRC of ICWAI in 1993 and member of the central council of ICWAI in 1996-99 and 2007-11 terms.
Nominated to be the Vice - President of SAFA in 2010 and became its President in 2011.
Nominated to the Professional Accountants in Business Committee of IFAC for the term 2010-12.
Several initiatives were commenced in SAFA in 2011 and the notable ones were the MOU with European Federation of Accountants and Auditors (EFAA) and the one with GRI. Was the Chief Guest in the First Sustainability Awards of ICAP-ICMAP at Karachi in 2011.
A N Raman, an internationally acclaimed expert on various nuances of cost management principles including Activity Based Costing / Management, Strategic Cost Management, Value Chain Analysis and Target Costing has the unparallel distinction of scripting and introducing the whole concept of Total Cost Management in a structured format to Indian industry since 1996.
Since then, A N Raman through his various activities and initiatives has been re-defining the cost management principles in India. One of his major milestones in the growth trajectory was introducing world's first CII-Maturity Model in India.
CII-Maturity Model is a rating system that assess and rate the cost management practices/systems/ levels of any organizational unit. The model is first of its kind in the world.
He is currently providing consulting assignment to TVS group, Ashok Leyland group, Godrej & Boyce, LMW, WS insulators and so on
