CII – Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre (CII – Godrej GBC), a division of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is India's premier developmental institution, offering advisory services to the industry on environmental aspects and works in the areas of Green Buildings, Energy Efficiency, Water Management, Renewable Energy, Green Business Incubation and Climate Change activities.

Cities are the engines for social and economic growth of a country. The urban sector contributes nearly 50-60% to the nation's GDP. Cities have been pivotal in the creation of employment and the economic growth in the country.

Creation of job opportunities coupled with higher incomes and standards of living has led to an influx of rural population into urban areas. As a result, India has witnessed an unprecedented growth in the urban population. As per 2001 census, 28% of India's total population resides in urban areas. It is estimated that by the year 2030, the urban population would rise to 42% of the total population of the country.
