Ulhas Parlikar received the Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad and the Master Degree in Chemical Engineering with Specialization in High Polymer Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai in 1980 and 1982, respectively.

Launching his career with country’s most renowned FMCG giant, Hindustan Unilever, he served the company in the area of Research for about 4 years and gained experience the field of oils, fats, soaps, detergents and chemicals. In 1986, he joined National Peroxide Limited to work as Technology Development and Process Design Professional, where he worked for nine years in the field of Hydrogen Peroxide, Per-oxygen Chemicals, Bio-technology, Calcium Carbonate and Plastic Additives.

Since 1995, he has held several positions at ACC Limited and worked on different assignments such as:

  • Up-Scaling of Technologies : Advanced Inorganic Materials used in Strategic, Electronic and Catalytic Applications and in Environmental Pollution Control.
  • Design and Implementation of Projects in the area of Mineral Processing and Environmental Management.
  • Assimilation and Promotion of Advanced Technologies that promote Sustainable Development.
  • Overseas Business Development in the area of Cement Project Management & Consultancy Services.
  • Strategic thinking and diversification.

He pioneered successful implementation of Geocycle Business in ACC Limited since 2005 and has been continuously delivering successful business growth in the area of Geocycle in the Company which involves extending environmentally sound solution for the management of wastes by utilizing them as Alternative Fuels & Raw Materials in Cement Kilns. He is currently Dy Head of Geocycle India which is a joint activity of ACC and Ambuja Cement.

Author of more than 20 Publications and Co-editor of CII Manual on Alternative Fuel & Raw Material Utilization in Indian Cement Industry, he has also been serving as the Chairman of CII’s Initiatives on Increasing AFR Usage in Cement Industry in the Country. He has served as an expert member on several committees related to waste management and sustainability.

He has been successfully contributing to corporate performance through his core knowledge, experience and innovative approach and strategies. Having traveled widely and exposed to several initiatives on sustainable development globally, he has gained substantial expertise in this area due to which he has been invited to participate as expert in several panel discussions and committees in the Country.
