Dr. Vinod Nowal is the Deputy Managing Director of JSW Steel Ltd., the largest integrated steel plant of India. His association with JSW spans more than three decades. He joined Jindal Iron and Steel Co Ltd (JISCO) as the Works Manager of TarapurPlant in 1984. He also handled Operations and the Commercial department of both Vasind & Tarapur plants. In an inspiring story of growth through dedication, he worked his way to become Executive Director in erstwhile JISCO, now JSW. He was appointed as Director-Commercial at JSW Steel in 2004 and took charge as Director & CEO of JSW Steel Ltd in 2009. Dr Nowal spearheaded the expansion and meteoric growth of JSW Steel from 4 million tons per annum to 12 million tons per annum, in a shortest record time.
In his inspiring professional career, Dr. Nowal has been at the helm of affairs of many prestigious organizations. He is serving as the President of Karnataka Iron & Steel Manufacturers' Association (KISMA). He is currently the Chairman of Manufacturing Task Force Southern Region at ASSOCHAM. He is the Member of Manufacturing Task Force constituted by Govt. of Karnataka. He is also acting as a member of a committee under Chief Minister of Karnataka for Employment in the Manufacturing Sector. He is member of Governing Body of M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore as well. Dr Nowal was the President of Bangalore Chamber of Industry & Commerce (BCIC), Bangalore. He wasalso on the board of T John College, Bangalore as the Advisory Member.
On the academic front Dr. Nowal holds a Master Degree in BusinessAdministration and Doctorate in Inventory Management. He has also acquiredAdvanced Management Program (AMP) – an executiveleadership programme from the prestigious Harvard Business School,Boston, USA.
